A survey of argumentation structures for intelligent decision support

چکیده
In practical reasoning, knowledge is often used to argue, in various ways, for or against an assertion. This perspective on knowledge has led a number of researchers to apply insights from argumentation theories to modelling reasoning. However, argumentation theories have been applied to the development of intelligent systems based in a variety of ways. For example, the most commonly used structure for representing knowledge in this way is the Toulmin Argument Structure (TAS) yet many variations to Toulmin’s original structure have been developed. In this paper, we survey different argumentation approaches including our own TAS variation in a family law system, Split Up, in order to conclude that there is unlikely to be one universally optimal argumentation framework but that each application requires a variation to suit the task.

Polarisation assessment in an intelligent argumentation system using fuzzy clustering algorithm for collaborative decision support
We developed an on-line intelligent argumentation system which facilitates stakeholders in exchanging dialogues. It provides decision support by capturing stakeholders’ rationale through arguments. As part of the argumentation process, stakeholders tend to both polarise their opinions and form polarisation groups. The challenging issue of assessing argumentation polarisation had not been addres...
متن کاملPersuasive Argumentation in a Medical Diagnosis Tutoring System
An important problem in intelligent tutoring systems and decision support systems in general concern the implementation of a convincing argumentation dialog between the system and the student or the user. The requirements for a convincing argumentation dialog can vary depending on the kinds of conflicts that arise in the exchanges between the system and the user. In this paper we discuss an app...
متن کاملIncorporating critique and argumentation in DSS
Ž . This paper proposes a framework for a decision support system DSS based on critique and argumentation. We make a distinction between positive and negative types of critique and argue that both of them are valuable in making substantiated decisions. We further propose use of debate and argumentation as means for more informative decision support. We discuss the types of knowledge used for cr...
متن کاملElderly Daily Activity-Based Mood Quality Estimation Using Decision-Making Methods and Smart Facilities (Smart Home, Smart Wristband, and Smartphone)
Due to the growth of the aging phenomenon, the use of intelligent systems technology to monitor daily activities, which leads to a reduction in the costs for health care of the elderly, has received much attention. Considering that each person's daily activities are related to his/her moods, thus, the relationship can be modeled using intelligent decision-making algorithms such as machine learn...

Background & Objective: Since the clinical and epidemiologic characteristics of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is not well known yet, investigating its origin, etiology, diagnostic criteria, clinical manifestations, risk factors, treatments, and other related aspects is extremely important. In this situation, clinical experts face many uncertainties to make decision about COVID-19 progn...
